Dental Bridge Prairieville, LA

Do you have multiple missing teeth? Are you looking for an effective restorative dental treatment? Try dental bridges. Dental bridges can attach artificial teeth to adjacent natural teeth or dental implants, called abutment teeth. They are either permanently attached or removable.

Removable bridges are attached to the teeth with metal clasps, while fixed bridges are supported by teeth covered with crowns or dental implants. Dr. Gray Bailey offers dental bridges in Prairieville, LA. He specializes in providing same-day dental crowns, which cap off natural teeth and implants that support a dental bridge.

Dental Bridge Treatment in Prairieville, LA

It usually takes multiple appointments to complete dental bridge treatment. To begin, Dr. Bailey will prepare the teeth on either side of the missing teeth gap. He removes a small portion of the tooth enamel to ensure that they are ready for a dental crown. Using CEREC, Dr. Bailey can create dental crowns in just one office visit. Crowns are placed over the abutment teeth and the false, or pontic, teeth are fixed in place to bridge the gap between missing teeth.

Natural teeth adjacent to the space left by missing teeth support fixed bridges. A pontic replaces the lost tooth. Crowns are cemented onto natural teeth to provide support for the bridge. However, some patients may require dental implants. We will refer you to an implant specialist for the implantation procedure.

Caring For a Dental Bridge

Following treatment, please refrain from eating and drinking hot beverages until the numbness from anesthesia completely wears off. When brushing and flossing, be sure you are flossing carefully. Pulling up on the floss can dislodge a temporary crown.  Carefully pulling the floss out from the side of the temporary crown will decrease the risk of damage.

After each appointment, you may experience sensitivity to temperature and pressure sensitivity. This should subside after your final restoration. We recommend that our patients use mild pain medications after treatment.
